# Meta Buys Conductor, the App for Running Coding Agents in Parallel

Conductor's team joins Meta Superintelligence Labs, and its cloud service shuts on November 20, with user cloud data deleted after that.

Meta has bought Conductor, the startup whose app lets you run **several AI coding agents at once in separate workspaces**. Meta confirmed the deal to [TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2026/11/04/meta-acquires-ai-coding-startup-conductor/) on November 4.

If you use Conductor's cloud service, you've got about two weeks. **It shuts down on November 20**, and Conductor will then start deleting user cloud data.

Meta wouldn't say what it paid.

## What Conductor does

Conductor doesn't make its own AI model. It runs agents from the big labs, like Anthropic's and OpenAI's, and **gives each one its own workspace** on a separate part of your project.

So you hand three agents three jobs and review what comes back.

In practice, they can run in the cloud, on your own machine or from your phone.

CEO Charlie Holtz launched the product in July 2025, [PYMNTS reports](https://www.pymnts.com/news/artificial-intelligence/2026/meta-acquires-ai-coding-startup-conductor/). Back then, he wrote, **writing most of your code with agents "felt crazy"**.

## What happens to your projects

Holtz says Conductor's **core features keep working until early next year**, the same way they work now. Then what? The dates so far:

- November 20: the cloud service shuts, and Conductor then begins deleting user cloud data.
- The coming weeks and months: a changelog post on Conductor's site says its products will be wound down.
- Early next year: Holtz promises "something new" for customers.

The team joins Meta Superintelligence Labs, where Holtz will work with Alexandr Wang and Nat Friedman.

He wrote of **big plans for "the next interface"**. He didn't say what it is.

## Meta's coding push

This isn't Meta's first move into coding. TechCrunch and PYMNTS point to Meta's earlier work:

- Muse Code, Meta's own terminal coding agent, launched in beta in August.
- Its Muse agents have passed 10 million users.
- Meta bought Moltbook, the viral agent platform, in the past year.

Axios, which broke the news, reported that Conductor should help **Meta's models compete for coders**.

## Why it matters

A lot of site owners now build with agents. You might ask Claude Code for a landing page while Codex fixes a plugin, and **an app like Conductor keeps the two apart**.

So what should you do this week if Conductor is in your workflow?

- Pull anything you keep in Conductor's cloud before November 20.
- Push every project to a Git repo you own.
- Pick a fallback tool for early next year, since the local app only has a promise until then.

My read: Meta bought **the layer you work in**, the screen where you hand out jobs and review code.

I'd expect whatever comes next to lean on Meta's own Muse models first, even though the Conductor you know runs agents from Anthropic and OpenAI side by side.

That's the risk with any small tool between you and the models. Running your site's code through Claude or Codex? **The wrapper can vanish in two weeks**.

Still, I'd keep running agents in parallel.

That said, keep your code in a repo you control, so **a shutdown costs you an afternoon**.

Comparing models for the job? Start with [GPT-6.1 Terra's pricing](https://publishmyblog.com/ai/openai-gpt-6-1-terra/) or the [Kimi K3.1 Pro open weights](https://publishmyblog.com/ai/moonshot-kimi-k3-1-pro-open-weights/).

## Common Questions

**When does Conductor's cloud service shut down after the Meta acquisition?**
November 20, 2026. After that date Conductor will begin deleting user cloud data, so anyone storing work in Conductor's cloud should move it out before then.

**Does the Conductor app still work after Meta bought the company?**
Yes, for now. CEO Charlie Holtz says Conductor's core features will keep working as before until early 2027, apart from the cloud service, which closes on November 20, 2026.

**Which AI coding agents did Conductor run?**
Conductor ran agents from the major labs, such as Anthropic and OpenAI, rather than its own model, giving each agent a separate workspace so several could work on one project in parallel.
