# Uber Says AI Agents Booked Just Four Rides

Uber says every AI company is talking to it, but almost nobody is booking through an agent yet. Here's what that means if you're building for agents.

Uber says third-party AI agents booked **just four rides** on its platform. It shared the number on its third-quarter earnings call on November 4.

For scale, Uber handled roughly 320 million trips and orders in Halloween week alone.

Been told AI agents will replace your visitors? Here's the first hard number from a big platform.

If you sell food, the Uber Eats number is a little bigger, [according to TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2026/11/04/almost-no-one-uses-ai-agents-to-book-their-uber-company-says/). CFO Balaji Krishnamurthy said **about 500 food orders came from AI agents** in the week of Halloween.

## What Uber said on the call

The two reports don't agree on one detail. TechCrunch puts the four rides in Halloween week. [The Verge reports](https://www.theverge.com/transportation/1026306/uber-ai-agents-q3-earnings-disintermediation) **the four rides as a third-quarter figure**.

Either way, the count is tiny.

The Verge says it's **the first time Uber has shared any number** for agent bookings. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi called it "very, very early and very limited traction".

He still sounded keen. Khosrowshahi called agents **"a net positive" for demand**, another way for people to reach the platform.

He also gave a reason you might not bother:

- Booking a ride in the Uber app takes about 50 seconds on average.
- Re-ordering a favourite meal takes about 90 seconds.

So an agent wouldn't save you much there, when the app already takes you under a minute.

Uber isn't alone. TechCrunch notes that **DoorDash said last week it had received only a few hundred orders** from AI agents so far.

## Who Uber is talking to

"Every single AI system company is talking to us," Khosrowshahi said.

He counted about eight major AI assistants on the market today, and he expects more than 10 in time.

The Verge names **Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots** as examples.

The worry is that people ask one of them to book a ride or order food instead of opening the Uber app at all.

But Uber is building its own AI to keep you in its app. The Verge points to **Cart Assistant in Uber Eats**, which builds a grocery list from a photo of a recipe or a text prompt.

## Why it matters

Every week brings another tool for the agent visitor on your site:

- Cloudflare lets you [allow or block personal AI agents](https://publishmyblog.com/website-tools/cloudflare-personal-agents-controls/) one by one.
- [Microsoft Clarity shows what AI agents do on your site](https://publishmyblog.com/seo/microsoft-clarity-agentic-analytics/), and can test whether they finish a checkout.

Uber's call is the reality check: **people still book through the app**, even with the biggest agents on the market.

My read: **don't rebuild your checkout for agents this quarter**. Still, I'd spend an hour on two basics that help a human on a slow phone just as much:

- Can an agent load your booking page without a login wall?
- Are your prices and opening times in plain text, or only inside an image?

That said, I'd watch where agents win. It's **the tasks that are slow for a human**. So ask how long your own sale takes:

- 50 seconds, like an Uber booking? You've got time.
- 20 minutes of comparing ten hotels or filling a long form? I'd expect an agent like [Anthropic's Claude Duet](https://publishmyblog.com/ai/anthropic-claude-duet-agent-preview/) to get there first.

Then there's counting. Uber knew its number because **it tracks where each order came from**, right down to four rides out of hundreds of millions in a week.

Could you say how many of your orders came from an agent?

Check Clarity or your server logs once a month, so **you see your first agent orders** when they arrive.

## Common Questions

**How many Uber rides have AI agents booked so far?**
Four. Uber said on its November 4, 2026 earnings call that third-party AI agents booked four rides; TechCrunch places them in Halloween week, and The Verge reports them as a third-quarter figure.

**How many Uber Eats orders came from AI agents?**
About 500 Uber Eats orders were placed by AI agents in the week of Halloween 2026, against roughly 320 million Uber trips and orders that week, CFO Balaji Krishnamurthy said.

**Should small websites prepare for AI agents booking or buying for customers?**
Yes, but lightly for now. Uber and DoorDash report only hundreds of agent orders, so make booking pages readable without a login and track agent visits with a tool like Microsoft Clarity.
