# 10 Best Claude Design Skills That Stop Generic AI Websites

A carousel of ten design skills for AI agents has 5,500 likes. I opened every one: what each really does, the one line that installs it, and the claims that didn't hold.

A carousel called "Selected Design Skills, Part 1" from craftwork.design is doing the rounds on Instagram, with **about 5,500 likes** and a "comment SKILLS for the links" gate.

I opened every skill on it on November 5, 2026, read the README and checked the license.

All ten are real and open source. But two slides are out of date and one overstates who made it.

And **the post never tells you which ones fit your site**: a plain marketing site, a blog or a dashboard. That's the question you actually have.

I build this site with Claude Code, and two design skills already sit in its repo. So I read these the way you would. Will it make your pages look less like every other AI page?

## Before you install anything

A skill is a folder with a `SKILL.md` file that teaches your agent one job. Claude Code loads it when your request matches, and most of these also run in Cursor, Codex and other agents.

You'll need Claude Code (or another agent), a terminal and **Node.js**.

Several install with `npx skills add`, a small installer that puts the files where your agent looks for them.

Skills run with the same permissions as your agent, as Interface Design's README warns, so read the SKILL.md before you install. It's plain text.

They help most when your site is code: plain HTML, Astro, Next.js. On a WordPress theme? **You'll use three**: Impeccable's detector, UI UX Pro Max and Better Typography.

These ten cover how a page looks. For how it ranks, I ran [five Claude SEO skill packs](https://saeedseo.com/blog/claude-seo-skills/) on one site with 20 planted SEO issues to see what each caught and missed.

## 1. Frontend Design: Anthropic's own brief

This is Anthropic's skill, in its public skills repo with about 187,000 stars.

It tells Claude to act like a studio design lead whose client "has already rejected proposals that felt cliché".

In practice it makes the agent **name the subject, the audience and the page's one job** before it picks fonts and colours, and it lists the typographic defaults that give a generated page away.

It's for anyone starting a new page who wants a direction instead of the default.

In Claude Code, run `/plugin marketplace add anthropics/skills`, then install the example-skills plugin, which includes it. License: Apache 2.0.

> **Check it:** ask for the same hero section with and without the skill. If both use the same font and a gradient, it didn't load.

## 2. Impeccable: the one I'd install first

Impeccable, by Paul Bakaus, has **about 103,000 stars** and 24 commands. `critique` scores a design, `audit` checks accessibility and speed, and `polish` is the last pass before you ship.

And the best part, which the slide undersells? A detector with 62 fixed rules, no AI and no API key. It flags the tells: Inter everywhere, purple gradients, cards in cards.

It's for site owners with a site that already exists. `npx impeccable detect https://yoursite.com` scans a live page with no agent at all.

Install with `npx impeccable install`, then run `/impeccable init` in your agent. License: Apache 2.0.

One catch: its **live mode can start Codex or Claude with approvals and the sandbox off** to apply copy edits, the README says. Set `IMPECCABLE_LIVE_COPY_AGENT=chat` to keep that inside your chat.

> **Check it:** run the detector on your homepage. A clean report on a page you think looks generic means it's reading the wrong URL.

## 3. Taste Skill: company sites, checked in a browser

Taste Skill, by Leon Lin, has about 110,000 stars.

Version 2.5 builds a company website from one brief: it deals a palette, a font pairing and a hero layout, then renders the page in headless Chrome at four widths and fails what breaks.

The slide's "dials for variance, motion and density" **belong to the older versions**, which now live in a separate repo, taste-skill-classics.

It's for you if you're building a marketing site from scratch and want the agent to check its own work.

Shaders and scroll effects only go on software, tech and gaming pages; a cafe or a shop gets photographs and flat colour.

Install with `npx skills add https://github.com/Leonxlnx/taste-skill --skill "design-taste-frontend"`. It needs **Node 22 and Chrome, Edge or Chromium**. License: MIT.

> **Check it:** after a build, run `node scripts/consistency.mjs <your page> --page service` from the skill folder and read the FAIL lines.

## 4. Hallmark: 50 themes and a slop lint

Hallmark is made by Together AI and has about 48,000 stars. It offers three themes that fit your prompt, builds the hero first, then lints the page at eight widths.

The slide says 21 themes. It has 50 now, and I couldn't find the "58 quality checks" figure on the README or the site.

It's for landing pages: a booking page, a shop, a newsletter signup. `/hallmark audit ./index.html` **only reports and changes nothing**, which makes it a safe first run on a live page.

Install with `npx skills add nutlope/hallmark -g`. It needs Node 18; the browser checks also need `puppeteer-core` and Chrome. License: MIT.

> **Check it:** run the audit on one page. If it flags an "eyebrow" label above every heading, that's one of the tells it was built to catch.

## 5. UI UX Pro Max: a design reference your agent can search

UI UX Pro Max has about 145,000 stars. It's a searchable database: 192 colour palettes, 74 font pairings, 119 UX guidelines and 79 UI styles, matched to the type of product you're building.

The slide's numbers hold. What it doesn't say: there's a separate premium version, and **the open-source one in this repo is what this guide covers.**

It's for picking a palette and fonts that fit your niche, and for checking a design against the UX rules.

Install the CLI with `npm install -g ui-ux-pro-max-cli`, then `uipro init --ai claude`. The search script needs Python 3. License: MIT.

> **Check it:** ask for a design system for your kind of site and see if the palette it names is one you'd have picked yourself.

## 6. Hue: your brand as a skill

Hue, by Dominik Martin, learns a brand **from a URL, a name or a screenshot** and writes a complete design skill: colour tokens, type, spacing, components, light and dark mode.

After that, every component your agent builds uses your brand's colours and type.

A validator checks contrast, leftover placeholders and the AI-default display fonts before it saves the skill, and stops with an error if one fails.

It's for you if you already have a brand. Point it at **your own site**; copying another company's look is how you end up with a page that's theirs.

Install it with one git clone, no installer: `git clone https://github.com/dominikmartn/hue ~/.claude/skills/hue`. License: MIT.

The catch: it's the smallest project here, under 900 stars and one maintainer. Fine to try, worth watching.

> **Check it:** run it on your own homepage, then ask for a new pricing section. The colours should match your site without you naming them.

## 7. Extract DESIGN.md: write down the design you already have

This skill reads your frontend code (stylesheets, Tailwind config, components) and **writes a `DESIGN.md` with your colours, type, spacing and patterns**, without building or running the site.

The slide calls it "Google Stitch's skill". It lives in the google-labs-code/stitch-skills repo, but the README says it's "not an officially supported Google product."

It's for a site that grew without a style guide. A written DESIGN.md gives every later agent session the same rules.

Install **the Stitch plugins** with `npx plugins add google-labs-code/stitch-skills --scope project --target claude-code`. License: Apache 2.0.

The extraction reads your files, on your machine. Sending the result to Stitch is a separate step, so you can skip Stitch and keep the file in your repo.

> **Check it:** open `.stitch/DESIGN.md` and compare three colours in it with your CSS. If they don't match, don't let an agent build from it.

## 8. shadcn/ui skill: components done the shadcn way

shadcn/ui is a component library with about 127,000 stars, and this is its official skill. It activates when it finds a `components.json` file and runs `shadcn info --json` to read your setup.

So the agent knows your framework, Tailwind version and installed components **before it writes a line**, and it knows the shadcn CLI commands for adding and updating components.

It's for React and Next.js sites that use shadcn/ui. On WordPress, skip it.

Install with `pnpm dlx skills add shadcn/ui`; the docs show npm, yarn and bun versions too. License: MIT.

> **Check it:** ask for a login form. If it imports from your own `components/ui` folder, the skill read your project.

## 9. Interface Design: memory for dashboards

Interface Design, by Oyindamola Akinleye, saves your design decisions to **`.interface-design/system.md`** and reloads them next session, so button heights and spacing stop drifting.

Its README is clear about scope: "Not for marketing sites." It's for dashboards, apps, tools and admin panels.

So use it for the member area, the client portal or the internal tool behind your site. Your homepage needs one of the others.

Install with `npx skills add https://github.com/dammyjay93/interface-design --skill interface-design`. License: MIT. **Its last update was June 2026**, slower than the others.

> **Check it:** build two screens in two sessions and compare the button heights. They should match.

## 10. Better Typography: the rules your articles need

Better Typography is one of 14 skills in Jakub Krehel's collection. It sets and reviews type scale, line height, font loading, wrapping and punctuation.

Some of its rules are exact: a 60 to 75 character line, weight 400 or heavier below 18px, 16px inputs on iOS. It only proposes [a new typeface](https://publishmyblog.com/website-tools/vercel-geist-serif-typeface/) when you ask for one.

It's the most useful one here for a publisher.

Why? **Readers spend most of their time in your article body.**

`npx skills add jakubkrehel/skills` installs the collection. License: MIT.

> **Check it:** ask it to review your article template, then measure one line of body text. More than about 75 characters is the first fix.

## What the carousel got wrong

- **Taste Skill's dials are from older versions.** Version 2.5 deals a design and checks it in a browser.
- **Hallmark has 50 themes.** The slide says 21. The "58 quality checks" figure isn't on its README or site.
- **Extract DESIGN.md isn't an official Google product,** by its own README.
- **"All ten are free"** holds for the open-source code. UI UX Pro Max also has a premium version.
- **The links sit behind a comment.** They're all in the table above.

## Why it matters

Your readers have seen a thousand AI-built pages by now: the same font, a purple gradient, a label above every heading. They notice it before they read your first line.

These skills are the cheapest fix I know.

I'd start with Impeccable's detector on your live site, because **it needs no agent, only Node.js and one command**, and it tells you what a stranger sees.

Then add one skill for what you're doing next: Frontend Design or Taste Skill for a new site, Better Typography for a blog, Hue if you have a brand to keep.

Don't install all ten. They overlap, and they argue: two direction skills will pull one page in two ways.

Design still has to work, too. Before a redesign goes live, run the [website launch checklist](https://publishmyblog.com/guides/website-launch-checklist/), because **a pretty page with a broken form is still a broken page.**

My guess is half of these will merge or fade within a year. That's fine: a skill is a text file, so the good rules you learn from it stay yours.

## Common Questions

**Which Claude design skill should I install first if I already have a live website?**

Impeccable. Its detector scans a live URL with 62 fixed rules and no AI, so you see what looks generic before you change anything. Then use its critique and polish commands on one section at a time.

**Do these Claude design skills work in Cursor and Codex too, or only in Claude Code?**

Most work in several agents. Impeccable, Taste Skill, Hallmark and UI UX Pro Max all list Cursor and Codex, and Stitch's skills follow the open Agent Skills standard. Anthropic's Frontend Design is written for Claude.

**Are Claude design skills safe to install from GitHub?**

They run with your agent's permissions, so treat them like any code you download. Read the SKILL.md first, install one at a time, and keep features that start other agents, like Impeccable's live mode, inside your chat.
