# Snap Will Stop Reporting Daily Users as Growth Stalls

Ad revenue grew 4% while subscriptions grew 84%, and from 2027 you lose the regional user numbers you'd size a campaign with.

Snapchat ended Q3 with 495 million daily users, and in North America and Europe, where Snap earns most of its money, **it added none at all**, [Social Media Today reports](https://www.socialmediatoday.com/news/snapchat-posts-modest-user-increase-in-q3/873823/).

So Snap is changing the number it reports.

Its [Q3 2026 results](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0001564408/000156440826000063/snap-20261104xexx991pressr.htm), out November 4, make global monthly active users (MAU) its main audience metric from the first quarter of 2027.

## What Snap reported

Total daily users rose by just 2 million from Q2. Revenue rose 14% to $1.72 billion, and Snap made a $56 million profit, against a $104 million loss a year earlier.

Here's the split by region:

- North America: $1.01 billion, up 13%
- Europe: $363 million, up 22%
- Rest of World: $345 million, up 11%

The mix tells you more than the total does. **CFO Doug Hott said ad revenue grew 4%, while Other Revenue grew 84%**, led by Snapchat+, Memories Storage and Lens+.

Those subscriptions passed 30 million.

Revenue per user in North America rose to $11.07, from $10.26 the quarter before. In Rest of World, where all the new users came from, it's $1.13.

In Australia, Snap locked or disabled over 415,000 accounts under the country's under-16 rules.

## Daily users out, monthly users in

Here are the changes Snap plans from its Q1 2027 report:

- Global monthly users replace global daily users as the main number.
- Regional daily users and regional revenue per user stop.
- Revenue per user is worked out from monthly users.

Why? Snap says **DAU is no longer "the best primary measure of long-term value."**

Meanwhile, the monthly count changes as well. It'll cover the last 30 days of the quarter and count anyone on a Snapchat-branded product, Apple Watch included.

Snap says that would have moved its Q3 count by less than 1%.

## Why it matters

Do you buy Snapchat ads? Then your picture of the audience gets blurrier next year, because **you lose the daily users in North America and Europe**, the number you'd use to size your market.

A monthly user who opens the app once looks the same as one who's in it every day.

My read: a company with growing daily users rarely stops reporting them. Snap gives its own reason, and it may be honest. Still, I'd plan with your own numbers from here.

So what should you check? I'd start with these:

- Pull reach and frequency for your own country from Snap's Ads Manager.
- Save this quarter's figures, before the daily users in North America and Europe disappear from the reports.
- Compare your costs each quarter.

**Do it this month.**

If you're a creator, your signal is mixed.

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel said Spotlight posters grew 130% from a year earlier, while daily Spotlight viewers grew 40%. That's more of you chasing a slower crowd.

Is Snapchat still worth your short-form time? If your viewers are young and in the U.S. or Europe, I'd say yes. Still, look for growth elsewhere too, like [YouTube's living room screens](https://publishmyblog.com/creators/youtube-tv-viewing-third-of-ad-revenue/).

## Common Questions

**How many daily active users does Snapchat have in 2026?**

Snapchat had 495 million daily active users in the third quarter of 2026, up from 493 million in Q2, and all of that growth came from outside North America and Europe, where daily users didn't grow at all.

**Will Snap still report Snapchat daily active users in 2027?**

No. From its Q1 2027 report, Snap plans to report global monthly active users instead, so you won't see daily users in North America and Europe, or revenue per user in North America, in its results any more.

**How much did Snapchat's ad revenue grow in Q3 2026?**

Snap's CFO said ad revenue grew 4% in Q3 2026. Total revenue rose 14% to $1.72 billion, helped by 84% growth in Other Revenue, led by Snapchat+, Memories Storage and Lens+, so subscriptions grew far faster than the ads you buy.
