Tencent Releases Hy4 With Vision and Computer Use
The API price stays where the preview was, and the benchmarks are Tencent's own, so test it on your work before you switch.

Tencent released Hy4 on November 4.
It’s the first model in the Hy line that can see images and use a computer.
You can call it today through Tencent Cloud or OpenRouter, but running it on your own servers has to wait: Tencent says the open weights follow “in the coming days”.
So if you build sites, apps or games and pay for every token your tools burn through, you’ve got one more cheap model that deserves an afternoon of testing.
What Hy4 can do for you
According to Tencent’s announcement, Hy4 now reads charts, fine image detail and visual maths problems.
It also works for you in a terminal and in a normal app with buttons and windows.
Why Blender? Tencent trained Hy4 on professional tools like Blender and CAD so that it can plan the long jobs that take many steps and run across more than one app.
Here’s where you’ll find it:
- Tencent’s own apps: WorkBuddy, CodeBuddy, Yuanbao and ima
- Tencent Cloud TokenHub, if you want the API direct
- Third-party platforms: OpenRouter, Hermes and OpenCode
TechNode puts the model at 770 billion parameters. Tencent says it handles front-end and back-end work together and builds game logic in Unreal Engine, Unity and Godot.
Price, weights and the numbers behind it
If you used the preview, your bill won’t change. Tencent puts the price at about $0.90 per million input tokens and $2.70 per million output tokens.
TechNode lists $0.834 per million input tokens and $2.501 per million output tokens. Either way, it’s cheap.
Then there are the deals:
- Tencent Cloud TokenHub takes 50% off until December 31, 2026
- WorkBuddy and CodeBuddy are free to use from November 4 to 15 (TechNode says there’s a usage cap)
A cheaper Hy4 Flash is coming soon.
Now the claims. Tencent ran a blind test with 213 finance professionals on 579 real tasks, and here’s how Hy4 scored against three rivals:
- Hy4: 3.04
- DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash: 2.97
- Moonshot’s Kimi K3.1 Pro and GLM-5.3: 2.68 each
Tencent also says its hallucination rate in internal search tests fell from about 13% in the preview to about 7%. That’s a cut of more than 40%.
But those are Tencent’s own tests. Nobody outside has checked them yet.
Worried about safety? Tencent says it kept exploit material out of the training data, and that two of its own security labs found no significant concerns.
Why it matters
I think Hy4’s real difference is cheap computer use.
Compare it with OpenAI’s GPT-6.1 Terra, which is also aimed at computer use and costs you $1 per million input tokens and $5 out.
Hy4 costs about half of Terra’s price per million output tokens, and if your agents spend all day clicking through dashboards, filling in forms and reading reports, that gap adds up fast.
Still, I wouldn’t switch on a launch post.
Every benchmark here is Tencent’s own. The “first in nine of twelve scenarios” result on WorkBuddy only covers mainland China.
My read: Hy4 matters most to you if you run an agency or a small SaaS team, already route your model calls through OpenRouter and care more about the bill than the brand name.
A cheap way to test it
Take three jobs you already give another model:
- a landing page fix
- a summary of a chart from your analytics
- a test run through your signup form
Give Hy4 the same prompts. Then compare the output and the bill.

Common Questions
Is Tencent Hy4 open source right now?
Not yet. Tencent says it will release the Hy4 model weights and system cards in the coming days. Until then, you can only use Hy4 through Tencent Cloud, Tencent’s apps or API platforms like OpenRouter.
How much does the Tencent Hy4 API cost per million tokens?
About $0.90 per million input tokens and $2.70 per million output tokens, according to Tencent, the same as Hy4 Preview. Tencent Cloud TokenHub is selling it at 50% off until December 31, 2026.
What does computer use mean in Tencent Hy4?
Hy4 can operate software for you, both in a command-line terminal and in normal apps with buttons and windows. Tencent trained it on tools like Blender and CAD so it can plan longer tasks with many steps.
