Facebook's 6 Million AI Answer Pages Are Ranking in Google
SEOs call it scaled content abuse. The pages drew an estimated 40 million visits in October, and Meta hasn't commented.

Google has indexed about 6 million AI-written Facebook Answers pages, Search Engine Roundtable reported on November 5. The pages sit under facebook.com/fb-answers/.
They rank in the blue links, in AI Overviews and in AI Mode, so if you write answers to the kind of questions people type into Google, they may now sit next to yours.
SEO Glenn Gabe calls it “scaled content abuse”.
What Facebook Answers pages are
Each page is an AI summary of one topic, built from public posts by people and Pages, with links back to the posts it used and a box of related pages at the bottom.
Saul Westbrook of Peripheral Creative spotted the Facebook Answers pages in June. He says nobody seems to edit them.
Want to see one? His example is the Facebook Answers page on using American Express for travel.
He found over 180 English pages on padel tennis alone. Some cite posts from 2010, one of them from a group with six members.
So your old posts may be in there too. Westbrook found a few of his own 2024 group posts used as sources.
How much traffic they get
Westbrook pulled Semrush’s worldwide estimates for the folder. Here’s how fast it grew:
| Month (2026) | Estimated visits |
|---|---|
| May | 130,000 |
| July | 1 million |
| August | 12 million |
| September | 36 million |
| October | 41 million |
Between July and August, the keywords these pages rank for jumped from 4 million to 53 million worldwide, he says, and the traffic climbed with them into September.
In the US, one page ranks second for “amex travel” and another first for “LAS airport location”. Those are Semrush estimates, so you should take them as a rough guide.
On November 5, Gabe showed them cited in AI Overviews, AI Mode and Gemini.
Other AI chatbots are shut out, though. Westbrook says Facebook blocks LLM crawlers from the pages.
Is it scaled content abuse?
Google’s spam policy covers pages made in bulk “for the primary purpose of manipulating search rankings”. The two SEOs read it differently:
- Gabe says that’s what this is.
- Westbrook isn’t so sure. The text comes from Facebook’s own posts, and the Facebook Answers pages survived Google’s September spam update.
Meanwhile, Meta hadn’t commented by November 3, Westbrook says, and neither source has a reply from Google, so for now all we know comes from SEOs looking at the pages themselves.
Barry Schwartz suspects the pages won’t stay indexed much longer. He’s also heard unconfirmed rumours that Instagram does something similar.
Why it matters
If you run a blog, a review site or a help centre, this is a new rival for the same questions you answer.
It’s AI text on a domain Google already trusts, and it quotes real people. Westbrook thinks that’s Facebook’s play against Reddit.
My read: it’s a double standard. If you added 6 million AI pages to your site in a few months, I think you’d expect a manual action from Google within weeks, and you’d likely get one.
So I’d watch Google’s next move. What can you do this week?
- Search
site:facebook.com/fb-answers "your brand"to see what these pages say about you. That’s Westbrook’s tip. - In Search Console, find queries where your clicks fell since August.
- Check whether a Facebook Answers page now ranks on those queries.
- Post on your Facebook Page and in groups. Westbrook found Page posts, group posts and comments all used as sources.
Still, I wouldn’t build your plan on them.
Google can drop a folder overnight. Reddit’s search traffic has already slipped this year, and it’s now moving to logged-in pages.
That said, our guide to AI search for your website still holds. Would Google let you do the same?

Nobody knows yet. Glenn Gabe calls it scaled content abuse, but the Facebook Answers pages survived Google’s September spam update, and neither Google nor Meta has said anything publicly.
