Adobe Premiere Mobile Is Adding Licensed Music From UMG and Warner
Up to 60 seconds of a popular track in your video, straight from the app. Brand deals and client work still need Adobe Stock Audio.

Adobe is adding licensed song clips from Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to Premiere mobile, its free video editor, so you can edit to popular songs.
It isn’t live yet, and there’s no date: Adobe lists every one of the new music features as “coming soon” and hasn’t said when they reach your phone.
What’s coming to Premiere mobile
According to Adobe’s announcement, published on November 3, you’ll be able to:
- Add up to 60 seconds of a popular track straight to your video.
- Browse, search and preview trending music by artist or track, filter by genre and length, and bookmark favorites.
- Explore label-featured collections.
- Start from templates already paired with music.
- Export and post to “licensed social platforms”.
Which artists will you get? No specific musicians have been named, The Verge reports.
Premiere mobile already has a royalty-free music library. Licensed audio had to be imported by hand, though.
The Verge sees the change as a way to make recognizable songs easier to drop into an edit, and to help Adobe’s mobile editor compete with popular rivals like CapCut.
The licence catch
Here’s the line that matters if you make money from video. The UMG and WMG tracks are licensed for personal, non-commercial use, Adobe says.
For anything that needs commercially licensed music, Adobe points you to Adobe Stock Audio instead.
So what counts as commercial for you? Adobe’s post doesn’t spell it out, or list the “licensed social platforms”.
Until it does, assume no.
Why it matters
For fun Reels, it’s handy. Trending audio inside your editor saves you a trip to another app, and 60 seconds covers most short videos.
But are you posting for fun? My read is that these sit outside the licence:
- A brand deal or sponsored post.
- A promo you edit for a client.
- A product video for your own store.
That’s where I’d keep using Adobe Stock Audio, or another licence you can point to.
Before you plan around it, I’d do three things:
- Wait for Adobe’s full terms for the UMG and WMG tracks.
- Check which platforms count as licensed.
- Keep sponsored and client videos on music you can show a licence for.
Of course, the fight for your attention as a creator keeps heating up. Instagram is reportedly offering YouTubers big deals, and Adobe wants your edits too.
Still, a copyright claim on a sponsored video costs more than the minutes saved.
Meanwhile, is it coming to Premiere Pro on desktop too? The Verge asked Adobe and had no answer yet.
