Is the Slate link dofollow? What we could and couldn't check
Slate is a US news and opinion magazine. Its pitch page tells outside writers to email the editor of the right section.
Our check
- Link
- Not checkableWe couldn't check this one on a public page.
- Approval
- PitchYou pitch; someone else decides whether you're used and linked.
- Where it shows
- The author byline or bio on your published piece, if the editor allows one
- Popularity
- Outside the Tranco top million
- Checked
- We did not find a Slate contributor page that links to the writer's own site, so we could not read a live link. We don't guess.
Rules and free route: Slate's own page
How to get the link
- Search Slate first to make sure your idea has not been covered.
- Pick the section editor on the pitch page that matches your topic.
- Put the pitch in the email body, with a one or two sentence bio and links to published work.
- Follow up once after about a week, then take the idea elsewhere.
Worth it if
You have a fresh argument or reported angle and published clips in a similar voice.
Skip it if
You want a sure link, since the editor often turns down pitches that feel unoriginal.
