YouTube: Living Room TV Viewing Accounts for One-Third of Ad Revenue
The earnings figure points to a bigger role for living room viewing in YouTube's ad business.

Alphabet says living room TV viewing now accounts for one-third of YouTube’s total ad revenue.
Alphabet reported $11.2 billion in YouTube ad sales for Q3 2026, up 9% from a year earlier.
The figure, which came during Alphabet’s Q3 earnings discussion as Tubefilter reported, puts TV viewing on your radar as a creator.
TV viewing is part of YouTube’s ad business
YouTube didn’t give a separate revenue figure for TV viewing, and since the one-third share covers YouTube’s ads, it doesn’t show what your channel or format earns from TV viewers.
Still, that’s a big share.
Do your videos work from across a living room? Two things tend to break there:
- Small text can be hard to read from the sofa.
- Quick edits can be hard to follow.
So it’s a format question.
Brand deals remain in focus
Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler pointed to deeper brand partnerships between Google and advertisers as the “largest contribution” to ad growth.
He said Creator Partnerships connects brands with more than 3 million creators, and cited Lexus campaigns with Colin and Samir, which he said drove an 11% lift in brand consideration.
But that result belongs to that campaign, and it can’t tell you what your next deal will achieve.
Schindler also gave a nod to YouTube Shopping’s partnership with Amazon, which Tubefilter called the latest part of YouTube’s long effort to turn itself into a shopping hub.
Shopping got no separate figure.

Why it matters
If you rely on YouTube ads, brand deals or shopping links, living room TV viewing could affect how you package videos. Readable graphics, clear audio and big-screen pacing may matter more.
That’s my read. It’s no promise of higher revenue.
So before you change anything, I’d check three things:
- In your YouTube Analytics, are viewers watching on TVs?
- Do they stay through the same parts as phone viewers?
- Then your sponsor pitch: can you explain how your format works for a living room audience?
Tubefilter also notes there was no word on money from Channel Memberships, Super Thanks or Super Chats.
I’d use the TV figure to review your audience data and formats. It’s no revenue forecast.
