ChatGPT Is Building Mention and Click Charts for Businesses

It's the first sign of a Search Console for ChatGPT, but it won't tell you which prompts named you.

ChatGPT is building a dashboard that would show your business how often ChatGPT mentions you in its answers and how many people click through from those answers to your website.

OpenAI hasn’t announced it.

On November 6 Juozas Kaziukėnas, founder of Marketplace Pulse, posted a screenshot on LinkedIn of a banner inviting businesses to “Claim your business in ChatGPT.”

Search Engine Roundtable compared the tool to Search Console. Fair enough.

What the banner promises

The banner lists three things you’d be able to do:

  • See how often your business is mentioned in ChatGPT conversations.
  • Add your latest products and keep your business details current.
  • Let your own business agent answer customer questions, with context you control.

The reporting counts two numbers a day, shown as a chart. Impressions are each time your business appears in ChatGPT responses; clicks are clicks on links to your website.

So who gets it?

It sits inside a bigger feature called Business Hub, which is open only to businesses that verify they own the business, for example by connecting their Shopify store.

Kaziukėnas first saw early pieces in August. The banner, he said, suggests launch is close.

What it won’t show you

There’s no prompt data, no user data and no competitor ranking, Kaziukėnas said.

So the chart shows you that mentions went up. Why? It can’t say.

Still, he called it accurate first-party data on whether your GEO or AEO work is paying off, as long as you pair it with an outside tool that tracks prompts.

PPC Land lined it up against Glenn Gabe’s wishlist from July 2025, an essay asking AI platforms for an “AI Search Console” with twelve features.

By PPC Land’s count, the reported tool covers three of them: impressions, clicks and trends over time.

Two more things from the reports:

  • Barry Schwartz at Search Engine Roundtable says it looks separate from ChatGPT ads, aimed at the organic answers.
  • The name can trip you up. ChatGPT Business is already OpenAI’s workplace subscription, a different product.

What we checked

On 8 November we read two OpenAI pages and ran one check of our own:

  • OpenAI’s merchant page says Shopify and Etsy catalogs are “already integrated”, and other merchants apply with a product feed.
  • That page mentions no Business Hub, no claim step and no mention or click reports yet.
  • OpenAI’s crawler docs say sites that block OAI-SearchBot won’t be shown in ChatGPT search answers, except as navigational links.
  • Our own robots.txt allows OAI-SearchBot, and our homepage returned 200 OK to its user agent.

Why it matters

My read: this is the report SEOs have wanted from OpenAI since ChatGPT started sending traffic.

Today you pay a tracking tool that runs a sample of prompts through ChatGPT and estimates, from those few answers, how often ChatGPT mentions your business.

A first-party count of mentions and clicks would beat that guess.

Of course, it’s one person’s view of a screen that hasn’t launched. OpenAI hasn’t said who gets it or when.

Does a product card count as an impression, or only a citation? Nobody has said.

Then there’s the verification gate. With Shopify as the first door in, I’d expect online stores to get this first, before publishers, local businesses or SaaS sites.

Want to be ready on day one? I’d do three things now:

  • Check your robots.txt allows OAI-SearchBot, or you won’t be in ChatGPT search answers to count.
  • Note your ChatGPT referral traffic in GA4 for the last few months, landing page by landing page, so you have a baseline to hold against whatever numbers OpenAI starts showing you.
  • Sell on Shopify or Etsy? Keep your catalog complete. OpenAI says richer product data helps items surface with more accurate information.

OpenAI says ChatGPT now handles about a fifth of Google’s search volume.

Clarity already reports what AI agents do on your site, and now ChatGPT may count your mentions too. Measurement is catching up. Slowly.

Common Questions

Can businesses see how often ChatGPT mentions them?

There’s no official report yet. A banner spotted on November 6 points to a Business Hub tool that would chart how often ChatGPT mentions your business and the clicks to your website, but OpenAI hasn’t announced it.

What will ChatGPT’s business analytics tool show?

According to Juozas Kaziukėnas, who spotted it, two numbers a day: how often a business appears in ChatGPT responses and how many clicks its website gets. It reportedly shows no prompt data, no user data and no competitor ranking.

How do I make sure my site can appear in ChatGPT search?

Allow OAI-SearchBot in your robots.txt. OpenAI’s crawler docs say sites that block OAI-SearchBot won’t be shown in ChatGPT search answers, though they can still appear as navigational links.
