Freshworks Buys Robusta to Add AI Incident Investigation

Freshworks' Robusta uses AI to investigate outages and identify root causes, and it is being brought into Freshservice alongside FireHydrant.

Freshworks has bought Robusta Dev Ltd., whose AI agents work out why a service broke. If your site makes money, that’s the question you need answered fast.

Freshworks didn’t disclose a price.

Freshworks says Robusta is being brought into Freshservice and aligned with FireHydrant, an incident orchestration platform.

In its company news post, Freshworks announced the deal on 28 October 2026. Robusta co-founder and CEO Natan Yellin joins Freshworks, and so does Arik Alon.

What Robusta’s agents do

Picture your checkout page throwing errors at 2am.

You open five dashboards and scroll back through the last deploy, trying to work out what changed.

Robusta’s agents try to do that first pass for you. When something looks wrong, they read three kinds of evidence:

  • your monitoring data
  • what your servers and cloud setup report
  • recent code and config changes

Then they name a likely root cause, show which other services are hit, and lay out the evidence so you can check it yourself.

Robusta also recommends fixes within guardrails you define, and engineers can review and approve changes before they touch production.

Freshworks says Robusta has been “heavily optimized for very large scale production environments”. Once it’s built into Freshservice, Freshworks says teams can expect to consolidate hundreds of alerts from a failing service into one investigated incident.

How it fits with FireHydrant

So the plan is a chain: Robusta diagnoses, FireHydrant runs the response, and Freshservice handles service operations.

Robusta’s findings and suggested steps will land in:

  • FireHydrant incident timelines
  • your Slack or Teams command channels

After an incident, Freshworks says the data feeds FireHydrant’s post-incident reviews (retrospectives) automatically.

When does it ship?

Freshworks hasn’t given a date.

What about HolmesGPT?

Robusta originally created HolmesGPT, an open-source incident agent that’s now a sandbox project at the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, according to its GitHub page.

Is it part of the deal? Freshworks’ announcement doesn’t say.

Of course, HolmesGPT’s status is the thing to watch.

Why it matters

If you run a SaaS product, a busy WooCommerce store or a site that earns while you sleep, downtime is your problem even if nobody calls you an SRE.

Yellin put the pitch in one line: “LLMs are fantastic at troubleshooting incidents.” I’d agree they’re good at the first pass, sorting logs and lining up what changed.

Still, I wouldn’t let one push a fix live on its own, and Robusta’s pitch agrees: it recommends fixes within guardrails you set, and engineers can review and approve changes before they touch production.

Does that mean it replaces your engineers?

The setup described keeps engineers in the loop, with reviews and approvals before anything touches production.

Either way, if you already pay for Freshservice, ask your account manager three things:

  • when Robusta’s features reach your plan
  • what they’ll cost
  • whether HolmesGPT stays open source

Anyway, Freshworks hasn’t answered any of these yet.

Common Questions

What is Robusta and what does it do?

Robusta Dev Ltd. is an incident intelligence engine. Its AI agents read your monitoring data and recent code and config changes, name a likely root cause, and recommend fixes within guardrails you set.

How much did Freshworks pay for Robusta?

Freshworks did not disclose a price when it announced the deal on 28 October 2026, and gave no date for when Robusta’s features reach your Freshservice plan.

Is HolmesGPT part of the Freshworks deal?

Freshworks’ announcement doesn’t mention HolmesGPT. The open-source AI agent, created by Robusta, is a sandbox project at the Cloud Native Computing Foundation with major help from Microsoft.
