ServiceNow Puts Its Workflows Inside ChatGPT With an MCP Plugin

The ServiceNow MCP plugin is available now; voice, security and Codex features are slated for 2027, with richer plugin features due by the end of 2026.

ServiceNow and OpenAI expanded their partnership on 28 October. The ServiceNow MCP plugin is available in the OpenAI marketplace now, for acting on your records in ChatGPT.

Most of the rest is planned: enhanced plugin capabilities by the end of 2026, then voice, security and Codex features with dates running into 2027.

What the plugin is for

A company connects ChatGPT to its own ServiceNow instance and picks which capabilities to expose, Unite.AI’s write-up of the deal explains.

Then, Unite.AI says, your team will be able to work from the chat without switching tabs:

  • find incidents similar to the one in front of you
  • assess the risk of a planned change
  • update a ServiceNow record without opening ServiceNow

“ServiceNow remains the system where those actions are executed and governed,” according to ServiceNow’s announcement.

Your existing business rules and permissions still apply, through a layer ServiceNow calls Action Fabric, Unite.AI reports.

Enhanced plugin features are due by the end of 2026. ServiceNow is also previewing interactive experiences inside ChatGPT.

The 2027 part

So what’s still to come? Quite a lot.

  • Voice: OpenAI voice models in ServiceNow’s Super Intelligence Control Tower, where a risk team describes an AI use case out loud and the agent fills in the assessment. Expected in Q1 2027.
  • Security: a joint tool for triaging attack paths, which is expected to enter early access in January 2027, with general availability planned for Q2 2027.
  • Codex: a planned integration in ServiceNow’s AI Workflow Factory, expected to be available in 2027.

Both sides also plan to use each other’s products, with ServiceNow planning to give all its employees access to ChatGPT Work and Codex, and OpenAI planning to run ServiceNow across its own operations.

The plugin is available now. Unite.AI’s coverage files everything else under planned, expected or preview.

Where the deal started

This builds on a multi-year deal from January 2026 that made OpenAI a preferred intelligence capability on the ServiceNow platform and widened access to its models, including GPT-5.2.

Why it matters

Don’t run ServiceNow yourself? That’s fine. Still, you should watch the pattern, because it’s coming to the tools you do use.

The chat window becomes where your team starts the work. Your SaaS app becomes the place it’s recorded.

What I’d do depends on which side you’re on:

  • If you build a SaaS tool for marketers or site owners, decide what your MCP server would expose and who approves each action.
  • If you buy SaaS, check which of your tools already have a plugin in ChatGPT or a connector in Claude.
  • Either way, know what each connection can change before a teammate switches it on.

I’d also discount the dates. Voice, security and Codex are 2027 plans.

Is one plugin enough to matter? I think so. It shows where your software is heading.

Common Questions

Can I use ServiceNow inside ChatGPT now?

Yes. The ServiceNow MCP plugin is available in the OpenAI marketplace as of 28 October 2026, and a company connects ChatGPT to its own ServiceNow instance and chooses which capabilities to expose.

When will the ServiceNow and OpenAI voice and security features launch?

Voice in ServiceNow’s Super Intelligence Control Tower is expected in Q1 2027. The joint security tool is expected to enter early access in January 2027, with general availability planned for Q2 2027.

Does ServiceNow only work with OpenAI?

Not according to these sources. Under the January 2026 deal, OpenAI is a preferred intelligence capability on the ServiceNow platform, and nothing in the sources says it is the only one.
